01 Feb CLOCK News: CLOCK Sector Expert Michelle Escoffery Appointed as President of the PRS Members’ Council
Congratulations to CLOCK Sector Expert Michelle Escoffery on her recent appointment to the newly created role of President of the PRS Members’ Council. An Ivor Novello Award-winning singer, songwriter, composer, educator and Music Week Women in Music 2020 Roll of Honour inductee, Escoffery has written songs for Tina Turner, All Saints, Beverley Knight and Artful Dodger. With an acclaimed music industry career that spans over three decades, her work has also included vocal arrangement and production for Rod Stewart and performances with legends such as Stevie Wonder and George Michael.
In their announcement, PRS for Music said the new President, “…will be a voice and advocate for PRS for Music’s songwriter, composer and publisher community, and an influential conduit between members, the PRS Members’ Council, and the organisation as a whole…”
In the first issue of the CLOCK Quarterly, Escoffery spoke with passion about why she advocates for new emerging talent in the music industry. Whether teaching her students on the MA in Commercial Songwriting and Production at Tileyard Education London, judging the Young Songwriter Competition 2021; the leading international songwriting competition for 8–18-year-olds, or running live music nights to connect artists from different genres and backgrounds, a belief in giving new talent the creative space to develop, and a platform to be seen and heard is evident.
With this generous spirit and philosophy, we are sure our fellow CLOCK member will make a substantial impact.
